Ashley Tisdale says that one time she was terrified after a ghostly experience in a hotel room in New Zealand.

Ashley says that she felt a presence in the room … “I thought my hotel room was haunted. Lights would go on and off and I’d hear things being thrown around the room. I could tell something was there.

“I like to believe maybe it was just electrical problems, though.”

Heart-throb Zac Efron was overwhelmed to find out Michael Jackson is a fan of his work - and was left “speechless” when the pop superstar called to congratulate him on his success.

At the ripe old age of 19, Vanessa Hudgens is on the verge of becoming a Hollywood superstar. She and Zac Efron are the Disney power couple, and now that she’s leaving her role as Gabriella Montez behind, Hudgens is also poised to leave the “High School Musical” franchise in the dust.

“I came into this project at 16 years old and just eager to work,” she told MTV News. “I had so much fun, and I was so passionate about acting, singing and dancing.”
Up next for Hudgens is another high school film, “Bandslam,” which Hudgens insists is nothing like “HSM.” “It’s a little bit more rock and roll,” she said. “I get to play a character who’s very different. She’s a lot darker and more deadpan. She comes out in the end with a Flying V [Gibson guitar], and she gets to have her fun.”

But right now, Hudgens is excited to have the well-loved “High School Musical” franchise finally coming to a theater near you, after two made-for-TV films. “The fact that we finally get to take it to the big screen is really exciting,” she said. “We finally have the chance to create something bigger and better.”

Hudgens didn’t have the opportunity to attend a real high school. She was too busy working in Hollywood to deal with the daily grind of lockers, gym class and all the awkward moments that most normal teens go through. So working on “HSM” offered the chance to see what it would be like to be a normal teen, albeit with lots of musical numbers.

“I was actually homeschooled. [So working on 'HSM,'] I got to have my fantasy prom and got to wear a cap and gown for the first time and graduate with people I love — the cast — so it’s been amazing,” she said. “It’s been this journey.”

And on that journey, she met her boyfriend. When most teens are learning about the birds and the bees in front of their classmates, Efron and Hudgens did it in front of the paparazzi — but that doesn’t mean she’s ruled out working with Efron again.

“We have the most amazing time,” she said. “I think with the entire cast, as well. We are all so close. I think we’d like to keep that door open to do another project together.”

“Anyone who has been to high school knows senior year is the most exciting year,” Efron says. “It’s the year you’ve been waiting for.

“It’s your transition into your adulthood. It can be scary, it can be exciting. Most of all, though, it’s confusing. You don’t know what you want to do with your life or where you’re going.”

No doubt the cast members of “HSM” (it’s all about the acronyms) can relate. Two years ago, they were all unknowns. Now, after the first two Disney Channel movies sold more than 15 million DVDs and 13 million soundtracks, the ensemble is making the leap to movie theaters for a grand finale. (Though, high schools have reunions, don’t they?)

From there, who knows? Efron just got back from Toronto, where he was helping promote a lead turn in Richard Linklater’s indie charmer, “Me and Orson Welles.” He signed on for “Senior Year” only after making sure the Wildcats would graduate with style. (A $3 million payday didn’t hurt, either.)

“The first two movies were fun, and I didn’t just want to do a third one to do a third one,” Efron says. “It feels like the fans demanded it, so we should deliver. We had to end this Wildcat legacy. And by now, we’ve learned what works and what doesn’t a lot better.”

To that end, Efron says everyone (mom and dad chaperones, included) will dig the 10 new songs in “Senior Year” as well as the ramped-up production values. The story will cover all the expected senior-year milestones — prom, graduation, a spring musical — but Efron knows it’s the songs that make or break the show.

“It’s funny because I complain about singing them every day for a month while we film the movie,” Efron says. “Then a mom will come up to me and say, ‘Are you kidding me? One month, you had to sing them? We listened to them all year.’ With that kind of repeat play, you’ve got to make them good.”

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens has a new mentor in Tom Cruise after the movie superstar sat her down for a career chat.

The young actress has revealed she was backstage at a Spice Girls show when Victoria Beckham introduced Hudgens to Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes.

She was speechless at first, but took time to listen to Cruise’s career advice and how to avoid the pitfalls of fame.

Hudgens says, “He was so sweet and such a nice guy? just telling me there isn’t much that you can do, it’s just part of your life now. So you have to accept it… He is an amazing guy.

Ashley Tisdale says that the paparazzi has gone too far, even breaking into her home!

“They broke in, they came into my home before,” Ashley tells Access Hollywood. “They don’t want middle America to know this is what they do to try and get pictures.”

Ashley says that a man with a video camera broker into her condo, and she thinks he was there to get footage. “They broke in an entry and went into the hall and followed my stylist,” she says.

The police arrived quickly and said that she could call it a robbery. Ashley says she wish they were required to have badges. “It could be a random stalker. They’re like 40-year-old men following us girls around.”

Zac and Vanessa were leaving the Apollo Theatre last Wednesday night when a middle-aged man pushed through the security team.

Vanessa tells ‘Access Hollywood’: “I actually got hit in the face! If anything, I was the one who got attacked, not Zac.”

“There was a guy who was walking down the street and I think he was a little drunk and he got pushed into the craziness of it all. He was blocking the door so our bodyguard had to push him aside.”

Zac says he wasn’t even aware of the attack until they got to their car. “I just heard about it. I was just focused on the van door - I’ve got to get to it. I got in the van and we drove away. I don’t remember getting harassed.”

Yikes!
