Rihanna Back To More After Collasping

A rep for Rihanna said the singer is “perfectly healthy” after nearly collapsing onstage during a concert Thursday at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia.

In videos posted online, the 20-year-old singer, clad in a corset, hunches over and holds her stomach while performing her hit “Umbrella” with tourmate Chris Brown. While some reports claim she finished her verse before running offstage, where paramedics reportedly were waiting for her, the video shows the music — and Brown — continuing after she exits the stage.

“It was very hot at the venue, so after Rihanna’s set was over, she went offstage and needed to sit down, catch her breath and have some water,” a rep for the singer told MTV News on Friday (November 7). “She is perfectly healthy and will be at her show tomorrow.”

TMZ reported that Rihanna may have felt ill due to a problem with the venue’s air-conditioning system, and Radar reported that she sought medical treatment at a local hospital.

According to her rep, the singer is expected to resume the tour with Brown as scheduled Saturday night in Sydney. The duo have been on tour in Australia and New Zealand since late last month; the last show is scheduled for November 11 in Perth.

Rihanna was recently named the face of Gucci’s UNICEF campaign. Gucci’s Frida Giannini described Rihanna as having a “strong personality” and said that she will work well for the campaign because “a musician and a beautiful woman was the perfect icon for this campaign.”

Soulja Boy Tell’em Hits The Clubs To See What Songs You Like — And How You’re Dancing

It’s just that easy. Soulja Boy Tell’em hops right out of bed in the morning (or afternoon - depending on how late he partied and/or recorded) and turns his swag on. And when he’s doing interviews, he turns his confidence all the way up.

“These are the steps to coming up with your own dance,” he said on the L.A. set of his “Turn My Swag On” video, directed by Skee.TV (Game’s “Dope Boys”). “You sitting at the crib with your partners. It’s about 12 in the morning. You go to the club. Basically, [that's] what I do,” he said with a snicker. “Real talk.”

But he doesn’t just go to the club. “We’ll be at the studio,” he continued. “I’ll make a beat. I got my own club in Atlanta called the Excalibur. We go to the club and play new Soulja Boy music. We watch what they do. We take little bits and pieces back to the crib and YouTube it. That’s it. Take your own songs to the club. That’s how you know it’s hot. All you artists out there, shipping your songs to the radio and you ain’t getting the response you want and your album only does 10 or 20 thousand the first week, go out there yourself. Play it, and watch the reaction. You ain’t gonna find no hit through the label.”

Soulja’s next album, iSouljaBoyTellem, comes out December 16, and he’s starting the affair off double-fisted.

“The single is ‘Bird Walk,’ ” he said. “Brand-new dance me and my boys came up with. Similar to what we did with ‘Crank That.’ ‘Turn My Swag On,’ it’s basically my street look. It’s just showing all my success from my first album. The first chapter of Soulja Boy in the music industry. I went platinum, 5 million ringtones. A whole lot of records I broke. It’s a lifestyle record. Speaking on my success, showing how my life changed since I became a celebrity. It’s basically saying, ‘I’m back.’

“This album, I’m speaking on a lot of stuff,” he added. “I’m talking about the game, the industry. I’m still speaking on the club, the girls. I’m talking about dancing, money … having fun. I’m talking about kids, Yums: my shoes and hats. My shirts and all that. I’m starting to see the other side of life. I’m maturing even more. … My album is gonna be hard, though. For real.”

Bow Wow, Sean Kingston, Gucci Mane and Polow Da Don are the big-name contributors to the set. In addition to his Yums apparel line, Soulja Boy is also involved in a sitcom that’s half animated, half live-action. Although he didn’t have a title, he described it as ” ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ but way better. We’re in the future, we got better technology.”

And Soulja has been utilizing technology a lot lately. We all know about his viral-video back-and-forth with Ice-T. Get ready for the next opponent: SB’s fired assistant Q. Allegedly, Q withdrew $45,000 from a Soulja account and was subsequently dismissed. Q claims he was strong-armed by gunmen to do so and told his side of the story in a video blog. Soulja responded by calling his onetime friend a thief and a liar and dismissed Q’s story as a cockamamie tale.

ATLANTA — Weezy F. Baby is having another baby. Lil Wayne announced Saturday night during the BET Hip-Hop Awards that he’s having his first son in just a “couple of days.” He was onstage accepting the Lyricist of the Year Award when he told the crowd at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center of his impending bundle of joy.

Not even three quarters into the show, Wayne had already jumped on the stage with DJ Khaled and a community of friends to help his mouthy friend accept an award; joined Common, T-Pain and Busta Rhymes during N.E.R.D.’s “Spazz”; and won the People’s Champ Award. Another Weezy highlight was his collision of skills with T-Pain and Ludacris during “Can’t Believe It” and “Chopped & Screwed.”

With all this commotion, you’d think Wayne would be relishing the spotlight. Nah. He told MTV News earlier in the day he’d rather be in the studio.

Next on his plate is the release of a new album, Tha Carter III. Think it’s already out? You’re correct. However, the tireless New Orleans mic fiend says he’s dropping a new version of the album with all brand-new songs: He said clearly that the record is not — repeat not — Tha Carter IV.

Wayne also won the MVP of the Year award, beating out Jay-Z, DJ Khaled, T.I. and Kanye West. He dedicated the award to his daughter.

Wayne’s final words when accepting the award were, “I got a son about to be born any day now, so shout-out to him. Pray for me.”"

Does Lindsay Lohan owe 50 Cent a million dollars?

Last year there were stories that Lindsay Lohan was bugging just about anyone who would listen for cash - she was said to beg even casual acquaintances for $10,000 and to have told them she was good for it as she was about to make a comeback. 50 Cent, Steve O. and producer Damon Dash are among the people she was rumored to have tried to hit up for money. Lindsay has long been said to have cash flow issues stemming from a shopping addiction and inability to stop spending on high end products, dinners and hotels. She has also been caught stealing from friends and coat rooms.

Now there’s a story in dubious source Media Take Out that 50 Cent did indeed lend Lohan money and that she’s indebted to him for a million dollars. Whether this is true or not is completely up to question. You would think that if 50 Cent lent her money he’d be smart enough to stop once it reached six figures:

MediaTakeOut.com reported to you last year that rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson loaned actress Lindsay Lohan a substantial amount of money. And now it appears he may have to go to court to get it back.

According to one of MediaTakeOut.com’s insiders, 50 may have lent Lindsay as much as $1 million - and he has yet to be paid back. And there’s more. The insider claims that 50 has begun consulting lawyers after repeated attempts to get Lindsay to pay him back.

The insider explained, “[50 Cent] doesn’t play when it comes to money. Either you pay up - or he gets his lawyers involved.”

Can Lil Wayne’s VMA Performance Make Him Into A Global Superstar?

Lil Wayne fans are Lil Wayne fans to the 10th power: The dude has a fanatical following. At his headlining shows, the audience members can recount the story behind every one of his many tattoos, tell you the number of diamonds in his teeth and, of course, recite his most obscure underground lyrics. They fervently cheer for his every move onstage, even when he sips from one of his red plastic cups.
The hip-hop world has been screaming for years that Weezy is the hottest MC in the game (he even earned that title in our first “Hottest MCs in the Game” competition, although he slipped to #3 this year, possibly due to the delayed release of his latest LP, Tha Carter III), and of course, that album was the first since 2005 to sell a million copies in a single week. But still, Wayne is not a household name along the lines of a Jay, Kanye, 50 or Eminem. Now Weezy gets the chance to bring his charismatic showmanship to arguably the biggest stage of his career: the MTV Video Music Awards.
Will a memorable performance at the VMAs help catapult Wayne to true superstardom?
“The energy should be his highest ever, now that he’s the #1 dude in the game,” said Datwon Thomas, editor in chief of XXL magazine, which dressed Weezy as an astronaut for its current issue. “It would be kinda cool if he came out in the Moonman suit, like he did for our cover!”
King magazine Editor in Chief Jermaine Hall agreed that the VMAs could be a turning point for Weezy. “[It's] a huge stage for him. He’s under more pressure because it’s the type of show that speaks directly to the consumers that put him over a million,” he said. “It’s a perfect opportunity to break a third single to his audience, or give the T-Pain song ['Got Money'] some more legs, so I imagine his show will be over the top.”
In 2007, Wayne had just a few days’ notice to write a verse for his appearance with Nicole Scherzinger at the VMA preshow, and he’ll also be teaming up with Kid Rock for a performance during this year’s show.
But the big difference this year could be in his stage presence. Wayne has performed so much in the past year, evolving from the spirited rap stallion who ran around the stage with the Hot Boys to the rock-and-roll wizard of swagger we know today.
New York radio host Miss Info has witnessed that transformation. “The learning curve that Weezy is on in terms of his lyricism from then until now was just unreal,” she said. “Or maybe we all missed the potential, because he hadn’t developed a personality big enough to match it. Now … Weezy is able to communicate a total package to his fans. There’s a voice, a delivery, a style, a look and a larger-than-life, not-of-this-planet personality all working together. It’s like a one-man Team Weezy.”
Wayne’s not afraid to appeal to fans of all genres, mastering the art of crossover. One minute he’ll slay hip-hop purists via spontaneous freestyle as metaphors roll off his tongue with precision and fluidity. Then he’ll pick up the guitar and play a whole song.
“Wayne has a rock-star element to his stage show,” Hall said. “He’s probably one of the few MCs who can rock a song a cappella and [have] the audience feel a connection to him. Not comparing him to [Mick] Jagger or any of those dudes, but those rock dudes can tell the band to chill, and rock a solo, and the audience throws a lighter in the air and enjoys it all the same … old or new song.”
Thomas agreed that Weezy gives something extra with each performance: “He isn’t just rapping to the crowd; he is performing his song for them. Facial expressions, vocal inflections and the like help him convey his outer-space lyrics to us mere mortals.”
Wayne’s otherworldly unpredictability will be key during this year’s VMAs. Everyone will want to know if he can condense his skills into a mini-set that we’ll remember five years from now. Given his diverse arsenal of techniques to kill the crowd, it seems very likely that he can. And let’s not forget, there are so many records on Tha Carter III that a national television audience has never seen him perform, he’ll have plenty of choices — from the frenetic “Phone Home” to the pensive “Tie My Hands.”
No matter what Wayne has planned for the night, some people would like to see him go off script. “There are the iconic [awards show] moments that are meticulously planned and flawlessly executed,” Miss Info said, “and then there are the iconic moments that result from genius and chaos (rest in peace, ODB). The best Lil Wayne moment would be a spontaneous rejection of what has been meticulously planned. Weezy is already booked to perform, and his set has already been planned, so that’s half of the winning formula right there. Can’t wait for showtime.”
