Biography

He shares lead vocals with Nick Jonas, and sometimes plays the guitar and tambourine.

The Jonases are known for their wholesome, family-friendly image. The brothers are all committed Evangelical Christians, their father is a former pastor, and they were homeschooled by their mother. In addition, they all famously wear purity rings on their left-hand ring finger and have vowed not to have premarital sex. Joe has said that the rings symbolize “a promise to ourselves and to God that we’ll stay pure ’till marriage,” and Nick had stated that “it’s [purity rings] pretty awesome, and the rings are just one of our ways of kind of like being different than everybody else out there.” They started wearing the rings when their parents, Denise and Kevin Sr., asked them if they wanted to. They also abstain from tobacco and drugs.

In October 2008, Joe won an award for his flamboyant fashion at Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica 2008 in Guadalajara, Mexico for the “Fashionista - Male” of the year, an award given to artists recognizing their fashion and style.

Musical career

In early 2005, Columbia Records‘ new president, Steve Greenberg, listened to Nick’s record. While Greenberg did not like the album, he did like Nick’s voice.

After meeting with Nick and hearing the song, “Please Be Mine”, written and performed by the brothers, Daylight/Columbia Records had decided to sign the three as a group act. After being signed to Columbia, the brothers considered naming their group “Sons of Jonas” before settling on the name “Jonas Brothers.”^[4]

It’s About Time, the brothers first album was released on August 8, 2006.^] According to the band’s manager, it was only a “limited release” of a little over 50,000 copies. Because Sony was not interested in further promoting the band, the Jonas Brothers then considered switching labels. The band was ultimately dropped by Columbia Records in early 2007.

After shortly being without a label, the Jonas Brothers signed with Hollywood Records in February 2007.^[6]^[7] Around the same time, the brothers began appearing in commercials for Baby Bottle Pops, singing the jingle. Their self-titled second album, Jonas Brothers, was released on August 7, 2007. It reached number five on the Billboard Hot 200 chart in its first week.

The Jonas Brothers‘ third studio album, A Little Bit Longer, was released in the United States on August 12, 2008.

Camp Rock Soundtrack

In the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock, Joe’s character “Shane Gray” sings a total of 2 songs without his brothers. The first song is “Gotta Find You”, which only Joe sings. The other song is “This Is Me“. This song is a duet with Joe and co-star Demi Lovato.

Acting career

On August 17, 2007, Joe, along with his brothers, guest starred in an episode of Hannah Montana. The episode debuted alongside High School Musical 2 and a sneak peek of the new Disney Channel show Phineas and Ferb.^[ The episode broke basic cable records with a record 10.7 million viewers and became basic cable’s most watched series telecast ever.

Joe and his brothers, filmed a Disney Channel Original Movie called Camp Rock where they play a band called “Connect Three.” Joe plays the lead male role and lead singer “Shane Gray”; Nick plays the role of “Nate,” a guitarist; and Kevin plays the role of “Jason,” also a guitarist. A soundtrack for the movie was released on June 17, 2008. The movie premiered on June 20 in the USA on Disney Channel, and Canada on Family.

The Disney Channel reality short series, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream, premiered on Disney Channel on May 16, 2008. The show, which will tentatively run until September 5, 2008, documents the brothers’ lives on the “Look Me in the Eyes Tour”, the name was inspired by the band’s hit song When You Look Me in the Eyes.

Joe, along with his three brothers Kevin, Nick and Frankie will also be starring in their own Disney Channel Original Series entitled, J.O.N.A.S., which they are currently filming.

Nick Jonas Single Again??

Is Nick Jonas single? According to MTV, the answer is a resounding yes! But I’m not sure if I’m buying it. I mean, haven’t Nick and Selena Gomez been playing the whole “we’re not dating” game for a while now?

This latest bit comes because E! News asked Nick over the weekend about his current relationship status and Nick answered with one word. “Single.”

Selena Gomez Ready To Cast Aside Nick Jonas For Shia LaBeouf

Disney star Selena Gomez has long been rumored to be dating Nick Jonas, but just because she’s already ordered doesn’t mean she can’t continue to check out the menu. And the dish that Selena has her eyes on these days is none other than former Disney-star-turned-action-stud Shia LaBeouf.

Selena has been talking up her crush on the 22-year-old star of such flicks as “Transformers” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Last week, the 16-year-old said she’d love to get Shia to make a cameo on her Disney series, “Wizards of Waverly Place.” “I’ve had a crush on him ever since he was on ‘Even Stevens,’ ” Gomez says in the upcoming issue of TV Guide. “It’s very far-fetched, but I would love to have Shia on ‘Wizards.’ “

In the interview she neither confirmed nor denied her relationship with Nick, but she did add some fuel to the fire. “I’ve gotten really close to the entire Jonas family this past year,” she said. “Nick and I are getting to know each other, but we’re not confirming anything.”

But last Saturday, on the red carpet for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Runway for Life benefit, Gomez seemed to be willing to cast Nick aside for her crush, according to E! Online.

“Let Shia know I’m available!” she said. Um, maybe you should let Nick know first.

If they are done, perhaps Nick and his brother Joe can commiserate. Last week it was reported that the middle Jonas and Taylor Swift had split. It wasn’t too long ago that those four crazy kids were double-dating. Young love can be so fleeting!

Jonas Brothers to Play Cowboy’s Halftime Show

It may not exert quite the same tidal tug on the popular consciousness as the Super Bowl halftime show, but the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game has announced the performers for its own halftime extravaganza: the Jonas Brothers will headline a concert at the Nov. 27 game between the Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks. The concert, which is scheduled to be shown as part of Fox’s broadcast of the game, also kicks off the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle campaign. Previous performers at the Thanksgiving Day halftime concert have included Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith and Jessica Simpson. Viewers who hold out for the Super Bowl XLIII halftime show will have to settle for a performance by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

With the release of their new album “A Little Bit Longer” today, the  Jonas Brothers (Joe, Kevin and Nick) are on promotion overdrive.  And the boys were spotted outside their hotel this morning showing some love to their fans.
The “Burnin’ Up” heartthrobs took some time out of their busy schedules to meet and greet the throng of screaming teenage girls (and guys) patiently waiting outside their Midtown Manhattan hotel.
Next stop - TRL.  The JoBros were spotted arriving at MTV Studios in Times Square for a taping of Jonas Brothers fan week on Total Request Live with dance-pop star Lady GaGa.
Later on tonight, they’ll be heading down to the SoHo district of New York City for an in-store performance at the Apple Store.
Then tomorrow, the “Hold On” rockers will enjoy a much-needed day/night off before heading up to Bethel, NY for a gig at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.

The Jonas Brothers are in this month’s edition of Rolling Stone.  The article, entitled “A Day in the life of the Jonas Brothers” gives us a glimpse into what it’s like being a Jonas.

The Jonas Brothers are set to sell millions of copies of their latest album. For years the boys have been thought to be a mainly Disney phenomena, but it looks like they’re crossing over to mainstream success. In fact, the reaction of many of their fans these days is not that different from how the Beatles were treated when they first hit the scene.
Now the big question surrounding the Jonas Brothers is who are they dating? The boys are keeping their mouths shut for the most part. Nick, 15, Joe, 18, and Kevin, 20 have all recently linked been with girlfriends, but they haven’t come right out and said who they’re dating. But that doesn’t mean they don’t understand why their fans want to know.
“I get it,” said Joe. “When I was young, I wanted to know what my favorite bands were up to all the time. And it’s funny when there’s a rumor. It’s funny when you find out there are other celebrities with crushes on you, like when I read that Lauren Conrad from The Hills liked me.”

A choice lineup for Teen Choice Awards

Producer Bob Bain characterizes Monday night’s telecast of the Teen Choice Awards using four words: “Miley Cyrus” and “Jonas Brothers.”
“If we cannot ring the bell with the teenage audience with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, I’m going to stop producing these shows,” said Bain.
Monday night’s show was taped Sunday in Los Angeles with Cyrus as host and performances by Mariah Carey, surprise guests and more.
“Why Mariah Carey? Probably be cause she’s one of the biggest stars in the recent history of the music business,” Bain said.
“Also, the stars from virtually every hot teenage show  are going to be with us: ‘Gossip Girl,’ ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager,’ ‘The Hills,’ ‘One Tree Hill.’
“This is the best-booked show in teenage television,” he added.
The broadcast, which gets underway at 8 p.m., comes after a load of attention to Cyrus involving back-to-back outdoor performances in New York City, talk about her future roles and gossip about alleged squabbles with other teen stars.
Bain is happy with that sort of buzz, because so much of it also mentions the Teen Choice Awards.
“It’s helping us hugely,” he said, “because we have a huge Internet presence this year.”
Last year saw 7.5 million votes cast — and this year, more than 31 million. Even though there was a change in how often fans could vote, Bain believes the increased action can only help the telecast.
In addition, the Jonas Brothers have had an online tie-in to the Teen Choice Awards,  and Cyrus has been involved in a dance-off that will culminate on the show.
“The key is to create an event that requires that in order for them to complete the arc, they have to watch the show,” Bain said.
“For instance, the dance battle, to find out who ultimately wins, you have to watch the show,” he said. “We try to create a payoff mechanism.”
The Internet plays a role there, too. Late last week, the chatter was that Will Smith would join Cyrus in her dance package.
“There’s been some Internet buzz about a lot of people,” Bain said. “All I can suggest is that the celebrity community is very receptive. We like to call it one-time television.”

The Jonas Brothers buy a new pad in Texas

The Jonas Brothers reportedly bought a house in a Dallas-Fort Worth suburb — and some young neighbors sound thrilled.
Tarrant County records obtained by The Dallas Morning News indicate that the three band members granted power of attorney to their mother, Denise Jonas, to buy a $2.8 million, six-bedroom house in Vaquero, a gated community in the suburb of Westlake. The documents were signed June 12.
A real estate agent confirmed the house’s sale but said the contract prevented her from commenting further. A publicist for the band, which began a nationwide tour last month, declined to comment.
“Yeah, I heard they are moving into the area!” 9-year-old Emily Clark said with wide eyes as she jumped out of the pool at Westlake’s Solana Club. They’re coming in three months, she said with an air of certainty.
The exclusive neighborhood already includes major leaguer Mark Teixeira, former star quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe and Terry Bradshaw, not to mention several pro golfers.
Former British Open champion Brian Watts discovered he might have new neighbors when he returned from Japan.
“I didn’t even know who the Jonas Brothers were or what kind of music they played,” Watts said. “But my wife and kids were enthralled.’”
The eldest brother, 20-year-old Kevin, was born in Dallas but grew up in New Jersey with brothers Joe, 18, and Nick, 15. They live in Los Angeles County now.
